Ukraine received everything it asked for at the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague. His decision will be the starting point for other legal and political assessments of Russia’s aggression. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba wrote about this on his Facebook page on Wednesday, March 16.

“As soon as Ukraine’s lawsuit was filed by Ukraine, the UN International Court of Justice ordered the Russian Federation to immediately stop the military operation in Ukraine. The court also ordered to stop any advance of the Russian Armed Forces and irregular forces supported by it on the territory of Ukraine. This is exactly what Ukraine demanded. We got everything we asked for, ”the minister said. Kuleba noted that the court’s decision is important because the fact of Russia’s invasion was stated at the highest legal level and it was determined that the groundless aggression of this country should stop. 13 judges supported the decision, only two were against (Russia and China). “This is a powerful result that gives weight to the decision,” Kuleba said.
The minister also noted that the court’s decision is legally binding in accordance with international law: it will be the starting point for other legal and political assessments of Russia’s aggression. “Ukraine has won here and demands that Russia immediately carry out the order and stop the aggression. International legal responsibility is taking time, and the case will now be considered, but Russia’s responsibility is inevitable, “he said. Kuleba stated that the issue of reparations will be resolved at the last stage of the case, and added that there is no doubt that Ukraine will win here as well, and, in the end, Russia will also pay with money.
Earlier on Wednesday, it became known that the UN Court had ordered Russia to end the war in Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky said that ignoring the court’s decision would lead Russia into even greater isolation. We will remind, on February 27 Ukraine filed a lawsuit in the International Court of Justice against the Russian Federation. Later it became known that the data on the crimes of the Russian Federation were sent to court by 39 countries at once.
